The Sudanese Community in Oxford and Oxfordshire is dedicated to supporting and empowering our community through educational, cultural, recreational, and charitable initiatives. Oxfordshire.

Based on reports from Healthwatch Oxfordshire and local community data around the time of the 2021 Census, the Sudanese community in Oxford and Oxfordshire consisted of approximately 400 families. This population includes working professionals, university students, and children.
While the Census 2021 provides detailed data on broader ethnic groups, the specific "Sudanese" identifier is often grouped within larger categories in public releases.
The Sudanese Community in Oxford & Oxfordshire, together with Sudanese communities across the United Kingdom, has followed with deep concern and sadness reports relating to the serious assault incident that occurred in Belfast.
Media outlets and social media platforms have circulated information regarding the incident, including varying reports about the identity and nationality of the individual concerned. In this regard, we emphasise the importance of relying solely on information released by the relevant authorities and avoiding the spread of rumours or unverified claims while investigations and legal proceedings remain ongoing.
The Sudanese Community in Oxford & Oxfordshire unequivocally condemns this violent act. We extend our deepest sympathy and solidarity to the victim, their family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Sudan is a highly diverse nation with an estimated 500 to over 570 distinct tribes. These groups are categorized into over 50–57 major ethnic groups and speak more than 400 different languages and dialects.

The Nile runs directly through Sudan, which is a major part of the Nile Basin. The Blue Nile (from Ethiopia) and the White Nile (from South Sudan/Uganda) converge at Khartoum, Sudan’s capital, forming the main Nile River.
🌍 Geography and Culture
Location: Bordered by Egypt, Libya, Chad, Central African Republic, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and the Red Sea.
Nile River: The Blue Nile and White Nile meet in the capital, Khartoum, to form the main Nile River.
Nubian Pyramids: Sudan is home to over 200 ancient pyramids—nearly double the number in Egypt—located primarily in Meroë.
Religion and Language: Islam is the dominant religion (approx. 95%), and the official languages are Arabic and English.
Sudan is home to more pyramids than Egypt.
The ancient Nubian civilisation, formerly known as the Kingdom of Kush, built impressive pyramids along the banks of the Nile River.
